Notes from Mrs. Dean

Thank you for making the beginning months of school smooth and successful. Please continue to feel free to call us if you have any questions or concerns.

The first report card will be sent home on Monday, November 2. Below is a definition of the grading system used by our school.

A=93-100                 B=85-92                 C=77-84                 D=70-76                 F=Below 70

Your child should receive a grade from each classroom teacher they have. We hope this will help create a stronger understanding of your child’s report card. We encourage you to contact the teacher if you have any questions about your student or their grades. To join the class email distribution list, please send an email to cdean@lincoln.k12.nc.us and ask to be added to the parent list.

I want to  give students every opportunity to do well in math class this year.  If at anytime they are unhappy with a homework grade, they may redo it.  It has to be done on notebook paper and turned in the next day!  Please make sure that name , date, and page number are on the assignment.  Also, I allow students to retake tests if they chose.  Test retakes are on Monday.  Please let me know in writing so I will have the test ready.

Effective November 2, 2009, there was a change in the beverage offerings in our school cafeteria. As of that date, orange juice will no longer be offered with school lunches except for students who have a documented allergy or intolerance for dairy products. This is in response to new nutrition information that indicates that calcium is beneficial in building strong bones and teeth, and that milk has a positive impact on maintaining a healthy weight. We will offer milk for students at lunch in several varieties and bottled water as an extra item. Orange juice and apple juice will still be offered at breakfast.
